The Latin American Potato Association ( ALAP ) was founded by the Latin American Society of Potato Researchers ( SLIP ) in 1977. ALAP has held technical and updating meetings every two years in different countries of the region, bringing together researchers, entrepreneurs, extensionists, producers and interested in the cultivation of potatoes in general. The official languages of the ALAP are Spanish and Portuguese. There were 8 meetings of the SLIP prior to 1972 for which there is no record.
